It seemed we were always moving around and of course the tee shirts were always tee shirts but not with the same meaning. So I saved them for that special quilt.
Our Son began wresting in Oklahoma when he was in early elementary school. This was a city team in Lawton, Oklahoma and what memories we have from meets. He even pinned a guy in 16 seconds! He also wrested in Prattville, Alabama and Roanoke Rapids where he also played football. I had to save some of the tee shirts throughout his school years.
Finally came the day that I had time to make this wonderful keepsake. This quilt is made of twelve different tee shirts. They were cut apart and stitched together in a grid like pattern. A football fabric was chosen to make a three inch border around the outside of the shirts. I used a bright red fabric to make the binding and complete this quilt.
A lot of love went into this quilt. It was our first quilt and for our oldest son. This quilt was hand quilted. I can’t tell you how many stitches are in this keepsake. The stitches and labor were well worth preserving those memories for him. Now that he has grown I know that he will have some of those wonderful events in his life to share with others.
Don’t throw out your child’s old, stained, and dingy tee shirts. They express the personality of the time and they could be a keepsake that your child will truly appreciate.
We don’t hand quilt anymore but we can machine quilt you a keepsake that you can treasure. Check out our Tee Shirt sections and order yours today.
